In 2009 and 2010, I took time during the days leading up to Thanksgiving to write a daily Facebook post about things for which I am thankful. They were fun to write, and it was affirming to get some nice feedback from my FB friends.
I didn’t do it this year or last, but I noticed this year that a few of my other FB friends have taken up the practice. They’ve been much more eloquent than I ever was.
I think what motivated me to do it three years ago was a need to find some things about which to be thankful. It had been a tough year, and it helped to focus on some of the good things in my life. It turns out, there were plenty. And there still are.
Now, I’m in a daily habit of privately expressing thanks for the many blessings in my life. That might be why I didn’t feel compelled to use Facebook this year and last. And I’m not going to write a long list here of reasons that my life has been blessed.
What’s important to me, and I hope is important to you, is that when you feel like life isn’t going in the right direction, there are always reasons for gratitude.
Happy Thanksgiving!
